Read the column heading
The Jefferies manufacturer sock chart has separate columns for sock size, USA shoe, EURO shoe and typical age. A value in one column is not a measurement in another. The Small row's USA shoe 9–1 range crosses a children's shoe-number sequence. It should not be read as a descending linear interval or as foot length in inches.
Do not sort the raw numbers
A calculator that compares 9 and 1 as ordinary numeric endpoints could reject every value or reverse the range. This site's chart reference therefore displays the source row as text rather than using a simplistic numeric fit formula. It does not guess where a child's unqualified shoe number belongs. The correct named shoe scale and exact product context remain necessary.
Keep sock size separate
The same Small row lists sock size 7–8.5. That is not an instruction to choose USA shoe 7–8.5 or a foot-length range. Similar-looking numbers can describe different commercial size systems. Keep the column label attached whenever recording or comparing a range. Removing the heading makes a table easier to misread and can create a false product match.
Use a source-specific example
The selected Jefferies 61173 White/Grey Small pack is a six-pair offer. Its manufacturer family chart supplies the row described here. The selected Hanes retail page has another chart and conflicting answers;those values are not substituted into the Jefferies row. A shared Small or Medium name does not establish equivalent dimensions across brands.
Do not create an international conversion
The manufacturer chart also gives an EURO range, but that does not authorize a universal conversion between every US and European shoe brand. We do not calculate foot length, shoe interior length or another brand's size from it. The reference preserves the actual row as a source statement. A separate shoe-fit question needs its own exact evidence.
Handle ambiguous numbers
If a purchase note says only size 1 without a system or family, ask what it refers to before selecting socks. It could be a shoe number, a hosiery label or another field. Our tool returns no individualized match from that note. Keeping the ambiguity explicit is more useful than forcing the number through a guessed child/adult conversion.
Before ordering
Confirm the exact style, selected size and relevant chart source. Save the actual package label when it arrives and resolve any difference with the manufacturer or seller. The website has not measured the socks or a child, and it offers no growth prediction. Supported pack arithmetic remains separate from the unverified physical-fit decision.
A transcription check
When recording Small, write “USA shoe 9→1” beside “sock size 7–8.5”;do not shorten either to “size 7–9.” A shortened note would combine endpoints from two columns and create a range the manufacturer never published. If another shopping list uses an unlabeled number, leave its mapping unknown. A verified source row can be copied as text without converting it into a universal sizing equation.

This shopping reference does not replace the exact product label or qualified individual advice. Exact selected labels and independent content/commerce review remain pending.
